Lynn's Art On Arran

Having trained and worked as an Art Teacher, I rediscovered my love of painting when I moved to the West Coast of Scotland in 2006 I was inspired by the landscape and my love of watercolour returned!  I painted the landscapes of the West Coast for many years but having moved to the Isle of Arran in 2017 my work is now focused on the landscapes, seascapes and wildlife of Arran: capturing the essence of this stunning island.

Whilst I love working with watercolour, I discovered wool as a medium to 'paint' pictures with in 2017 and have been exploring this very versatile medium ever since.  Many of my paintings are now 'felt paintings' and capture the scenery and creatures of Arran.   I have recently been exploring how to work with local fleece and dye the wool with colours from plants that grow on Arran.

I have also discovered the joy of working with wool to create unique pieces of felt jewellery that are both comfortable and warm to wear and working the fleece to create unique felt vessels and even hats!

I have a studio in Whiting Bay which is open as part of the Arran Art Trail  (See the link at the bottom of this page).  Do visit if you are on the island and take a look at my work in progress!  My studio is in Middle Road and is signed from the bottom of the road, In 2022 I am open from 12 to 3pm Thursday, Friday & Saturdays from Easter to the end of September or on other days by appointment
